Butterfield & Robinson
We conducted an archival needs assessment for B & R to help them develop an archival strategy for their 50th anniversary in 2016. We subsequently arranged, described and preserved their heritage holdings and set up a significant in-house archive for them.
Beth Tzedec Reuben and Helene Dennis Museum
The Museum launched a major display on September 6th, 2017 entitled “From Latkes to Laffas: Jewish Toronto’s Favourite Eateries, 1900-2017.” The display examined the history of Jewish restaurants in Toronto using archival photographs, documents and artifacts. Heritage Professionals conducted research into the theme, produced the interpretive strategy, identified visual content, and developed the eight main text panels for the exhibition.
Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21
Heritage Professionals assisted Pier 21 with an interactive exhibition that they developed in 2016 called “Where to Live”. We produced the historical text, selected and secured the visuals, and developed captions for one component of this important display.
Defining Moments Canada!
The firm was involved in a national initiative to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Spanish flu pandemic, 1918-1920 overseen by DMC. The DMC site was launched in April and the display began traversing the country in September, 2018.
Jewish Family & Child Services of Toronto
JF & CS celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2018. We provided support by conducting research into the history of this important organization and producing historical texts and visual content. We developed a virtual timeline product that was launched in late 2017, and the following year, curated a physical exhibition that was rolled out at their anniversary gala held in May.
Laidlaw Foundation
Heritage Professionals completed a needs assessment review for the Foundation in 2015. We also helped them archive their records and arrange a formal donation to the Archives of Ontario in 2017. Recently, we produced several virtual and physical products to commemorate their 70th anniversary. For more details view their 70th anniversary web page.
Toronto Golf Club
In 2014 we set up an archive for the Toronto Golf Club and completed a strategic plan to assist with the creation of a dedicated space to accommodate their repository. We also completed a major digitization project in 2015. Since that time, we have undertaken additional initiatives to expand the Club’s heritage offerings, in particular, a virtual history site and physical display.
Toronto Hebrew Memorial Parks
In 2016, Heritage Professionals assisted THMP with several heritage initiatives such as: an educational workshop for high school students, an oral history of founder Sidney Freedman, as well as a tribute video produced for a special gala honouring Mr. Freedman. We are currently working on a special initiative to document the new building at Pardes Shalom and produce outreach products to promote the cemetery.
Mississaugua Golf and Country Club
Heritage Professionals has completed two major digitization initiatives for the MGCC. This has entailed imaging some of the earliest records produced by the Club from the turn of the twentieth century until the 1950s. We also completed some conservation work on a small number of records that were damaged.
Oxford Properties Group
We tackled an exciting initiative involving the processing, arrangement, description and digitization of historic materials created by the Yorkdale Mall. These items served as content for Yorkdale Mall’s 50th anniversary. The Oxford Group is one of the principal owners of the Mall. For more details please see our blog.
